Restaurant owners in Nepal often compare POS software on the monthly fee alone. The real cost has several parts, and the cheapest quote is often missing some of them.
What goes into the total
- Software: a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time licence. Check whether accounting, inventory and reports are included or sold as add-ons.
- Hardware: a billing terminal or tablet, receipt printer, and a kitchen printer for KOT (and a bar printer for BOT if you serve drinks).
- Setup and menu entry: who enters your menu, modifiers and tables, and is it charged?
- Training: staff turnover is high in restaurants, so ask whether retraining is free.
- Support: local, in your language, and available during dinner service.
- Integrations: Fonepay QR, SMS, and IRD CBMS billing if your turnover requires it.
Questions that expose hidden costs
- Is the price per outlet, per terminal or per user?
- Are KOT printing, recipe costing and split bills included?
- What happens to my data and my menu if I stop paying?
- Does it keep working during a power cut or when the internet drops?
Subscription vs one-time licence
A subscription spreads the cost and usually includes updates and support. A one-time licence looks cheaper up front but often adds yearly support fees and charges for upgrades. Compare the three-year total, not the first invoice.
Where NitiERP fits
NitiERP's restaurant module is modular and starts from Rs. 1,499 per month, with accounting, inventory and HRM available as separate modules when you need them. It is IRD-Approved with live CBMS billing and works offline. See the full restaurant software guide or book a free demo for a quote based on your outlets.
